Eden Blackman QUITS Celebs Go Dating after four series to ‘focus on new projects’
The dating expert, 50, has been involved in an on-going feud with co-star Nadia Essex which insiders say jeopardised the show’s future
EDEN Blackman has quit Celebs Go Dating after four series to focus on his new app and music agency.
The dating expert fell out with co-star Nadia Essex towards the end of the latest series, with show bosses worried their frosty relationship could jeopardise its future.
But the 50-year-old remained dignified when revealing his departure to The Sun Online, saying: “Today I informed the team that I won’t be returning to my role at Celebs Go Dating if and when the show comes back for Series five.
“I’m immensely proud of the show’s success but after four great series, it’s now time for me to fully commit to my other projects – 2018 will see me relaunch my dating app ‘Would Like to Meet’ and also marks the 18th year of my music PR agency – these remain my biggest passions and take up a great deal of my time.
“On top of this, I’m also in the process of developing a further new business that is yet to be announced… so it’s a really exciting time. I’m thankful to everyone at Lime Pictures and C4 for the opportunity.
“I’ve had a great time and following its best rated series to date, wish them nothing but more success for the show moving forwards.”
Series four saw the likes of Gemma Collins, ‘Muggy’ Mike Thalassitis and Stuart Little actor Jonathan Lipnicki try and find love, and was the most successful to date.
However, Eden and Nadia’s feud threatened to overshadow that success after they unfollowed each other on social media and stopped speaking behind the scenes.
A major factor behind the fallout was the discovery that Eden had been having an alleged secret relationship with Chanelle Sadie Paul, a Kim Kardashian lookalike who appeared on the show.
The pair’s romance came while Eden was in a relationship, which didn’t sit well with Nadia, bosses or Chanelle – who said she “felt sick” when she found out she was the other woman.
Earlier this month Nadia suggested Celebs Go Dating could do with a refresh, while not explicitly mentioning Eden.
She told OK! Online: “There’s an opportunity at the moment. We’ve done four really good series.
“I think now there’s an opportunity to look at what works, and what maybe doesn’t and refresh it.
“In terms of going into the next series, we could make it something that’s phenomenal. We’ve got the backbone, we’ve got the ground and I hope we use this opportunity.”
Eden wished the show well for the futureREX FEATURES
